Justin Allen Camp

Deputy Sheriff Justin Allen Camp, 29, passed away at his residence in Toney Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006. Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Brandy, 6-year-old son Cole, and 2-year-old son Bryce, all of Toney; parents, Karen and Darryl Lewis of Athens and Jerry W. and Diana Camp of Villa Rica, Ga.; brothers, Scott Camp of Kennesaw, Ga., Michael Camp of Villa Rica, Curtis Lewis and Bobby Lewis, both of Athens; sister, Katrina Lewis of Athens; grandmother, Elizabeth Collette of Athens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Danny and Carol Hogan of Elkmont; sister-in-law, Wendy Hogan of Athens; uncle, Ronald Collette of Athens; and the Hogan and Haney family.

Justin and Brandy would have celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on Dec. 10, 2006.

Justin was born Dec. 21, 1976, in East Point, Ga. He graduated from Ardmore High School in 1995. He served two years in the Army National Guard with the 1st Battalion 20th Special Forces group and with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Justin was employed with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. He began his career in law enforcement as a corrections officer, working his way through the ranks as a communications officer, reserve deputy, deputy, investigator and SWAT team member. He attended Jefferson County Sheriff’s Academy and received his Alabama Peace Officers Standards Training Certification, and was elected president of his graduating class. During his career, he took special pride in promoting the law enforcement profession during the training of new deputies and reserve members.

Justin was proud to protect and serve the citizens of Limestone County. The Alabama Department of Public Safety recognized him for his great abilities in law enforcement with the award of Most DUI Arrests by a Rural Officer in 2004.

Pallbearers will be Matt Wassum, Jonathan Hinton, David Jones, Jeff Dunn, Jake Lewis, and Will Lewis.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. The funeral will be officiated by Mike Blakely, Stanley McNatt, Jim Landers, and Hubert Sims.



Roy Hindman Malone Jr.

Funeral for Roy Hindman Malone Jr., 69, of Cullman, will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Alford and the Rev. Mac Buttram officiating. There will be no burial service.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Malone died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1937, to Roy H. and Bertha M. Jacobs Malone. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Margaret Clem Malone; two sisters, Virginia Malone Mann and Joyce Malone Dugger.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Quiggle Malone of Cullman; two daughters, Mary Margaret Malone of Treasure Island, Fla., and Rachel Malone (Hugues Lefebvre) of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada; two sons, Danny Malone of Bessemer and Dallas Malone of Cullman; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson of Waukegan, Ill., and Linda Garrett of Athens; one brother, Johnny Malone of Athens.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: First United Methodist Church of Cullman or Life Care Hospice.



David Kinney Sparks

David Kinney Sparks, 84, of Athens, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.



Ethel Tomlin Mitchell

Graveside service for Ethel Tomlin Mitchell, 91, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at Athens City Cemetery with Warren Glass officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mitchell died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Limestone Health Facility.

Born Oct. 10, 1915, in Franklin, Tenn., Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Church of Christ and was the retired owner of Ethel Mitchell’s Beauty Shope.

Survivors include one son, Larry Mitchell and wife Peggy of Athens; one sister, Rozelle Ashworth of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Tabitha Neely, Alison Johnson and husband Rick, all of Athens, and Shane Mitchell of Rogersville; two great-grandchildren, Brittney Neely and Colby Neely, both of Athens.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Barker, Colby Neely, J.W. Harvey, Rick Johnson, Bobby Tomlin and Bunkin Tomlin.
