Late April opening slated for new theater

A five-screen indoor theater is scheduled for a late April opening, according to owner Carlene Freehauf.
Freehauf, who owns the Cinemagic drive-in theater with her husband, Ralph Freehauf, said this week that all concrete floors have been poured and steel framing is going up this week.
Freehauf said one of the attractions for the city’s first multi-screen theater is stadium seating.
“Stadium seating is arranged so the row in front of you is far enough below so it doesn’t matter if the person in front of you has a big hat or big hair, you can still see over them,” said Freehauf.
The theater complex’s late April or early May opening is scheduled to coincide with the seasonal opening of the couple’s Cinemagic outdoor screen.
“We at first thought we’d be able to open at the end of March, but with the weather, we’ve had some holdups,” said Freehauf. “We’re planning a real big grand opening with friends, neighbors, local officials all invited to the theater to tour it before it opens. On the first day it’s open we plan on giving all the proceeds to charity. We are deciding now which charity to give it to.”
Freehauf said she is hoping to get the film, “Ice Age II” for the grand opening.
The theater complex is the culmination of a decade-long dream for the couple.
“It’s finally getting there,” she said. “We can actually see it. We have to go out there and check it out any time they do any little thing.”
