Friends of the Athens-Limestone Public Library will have a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the library.
Cub registration
Athens Cub Scout Pack 24 is having registration for all boys attending first through fourth grade at Julian Newman, Cowart, Brookhill and Athens Elementary Schools. Oak Grove decoration day

NAACP picnic
The Limestone NAACP branch will host a picnic from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the NAACP. Activities include free food, prizes, poetry, children’s games, singing, bingo, and a $100 cash prize giveaway. W.L. Class of ’89 reunion
The West Limestone Class of 1989 will celebrate their 20-year reunion with a family picnic from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kids Dugout pavilion on U.S. 31. The reunion dinner will be from 6 p.m. until midnight in the River Room of Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville. Limestone County schools are offering non-profit organizations the opportunity to participate in providing programming to at-risk students. Applications may be picked up at 300 S. Jefferson St., by Sept. 15. Call Debbie Owens, At-Risk coordinator, at (256) 232-5353.
AMS Mum Pre-sale
Athens Middle School will accept orders for their annual mum sale until Aug. 28. Mums are $10 for a 9-inch pot. They will be delivered to the school for pick up on Sept. 25. To order your mums please see a middle school student or come to the school’s north office on Clinton Street to order and pay.
Elkmont Library story program

Vendors for Literary Tastes
The Athens-Limestone Public Library is looking for vendors for its second Literary Tastes event to benefit the Library Foundation. Anyone who owns a restaurant or catering business can sign up to showcase food at the event, which will be at Madelyn’s in the Grove on Sept. 21.
