According to a statement from the Athens Police Department, April 15, between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., a 16-year-old was riding his skateboard on the sidewalk, in the 400 block of S. Houston Street. The teenager reported he was struck by a white SUV. The vehicle then fled the area.

The APD was contacted approximately 4 hours later regarding the incident. The teenager was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries after filing the report.
