Update: Mooresville Road siren malfunction

According to Limestone County officials, the siren at Mooresville Road and Craft Road malfunctioned throughout the night, Feb. 26-27.  A technician was notified and the siren is now being repaired.

An update at 4:50 p.m. Feb. 27 reads:

On the night of February 26 through the morning of the 27th the Limestone Co. EMA warning siren located on Mooresville Road near Lisa Lane malfunctioned due to an electronic failure. The electronic failure caused a High-Low alarm sound which is not the normal sound used to warn the public. A technician was able to locate a faulty component which caused the malfunction and complete the repair. The siren is now back functional.

Below is a list of instructions on Limestone County EMA and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Warning Sirens:

The Warning Sirens will be activated under the following conditions:

1) A Tornado Warning has been issued for Limestone County.

2) A Tornado Warning has been issued for an adjoining county and the tornado is expected to move into Limestone County.

3) An emergency exists at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant and the public should be alerted to take specific actions.

4) A National Emergency exists, and the public should be alerted to take specific actions.

The Warning Sirens are tested on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 9:15 a.m.
