The Athens Rotary Club presented its highest honor, the Martin-Young Paul Harris Fellowship Award, to Jeff Hodges. This award recognizes individuals who exemplify character, leadership, and service, embodying Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.”

Named after Athens’ first two Paul Harris Fellows, Carl Martin and Bill Young, and Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris, this award includes a $1,000 donation in the recipient’s name to the Rotary Foundation, supporting humanitarian efforts worldwide — including the PolioPlus initiative, which has helped immunize over 2.5 billion children against polio.

Since 1937, Athens Rotary has honored 44 Paul Harris Fellows, with 16 currently active members. Freddie Martin, our longest-tenured fellow, received this award 37 years ago and has been a Rotarian for an incredible 67 years.

Jeff Hodges exemplifies the very best of Rotary — dedicated to his profession, his church, his community and his family. He is known for his loyalty, faithfulness, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

Retired Judge Jimmy Woodroof, Martin-Young Paul Harris Fellowship Award committee chair, praised Jeff’s dedication:
