How many years have you been in education?

This is my 14th year as an educator.

How many are with Limestone County Schools?

This is my fourth year with Limestone County Schools.

What makes you proud to be an educator?

As an educator, what makes me most proud is the opportunity to make a positive impact on a student’s life. Seeing a student achieve something they did not think was possible. It is incredibly fulfilling to see a student master a difficult concept and gain confidence in their learning.

What has your experience in the education field taught you?

In my experience as an educator I have learned that not all school systems value passionate educators. I have learned that teaching is an art, not a science. I may have standards that I am required to teach, but I have learned that how I deliver the instruction may look different than my co-worker down the hall.

What do you enjoy most about working for Limestone County Schools?

What I enjoy most about working for Limestone County Schools is that they trust me to do my job, and give me the freedom to move away from the curriculum if my students need support or enrichment. I feel appreciated for my talents and my passion for teaching.

How do your students inspire you?

My students inspire me by their continuous curiosity and their eagerness to learn each day. In addition, they continue to push me to be the best teacher I can be.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies include reading, spending time with my family, baking and attending group fitness classes.

What is your favorite quote?

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and more loved than you know.” — A.A. Milne

The Alabama Teacher of the Year Program honors and recognizes excellence in the teaching profession by identifying outstanding classroom teachers at local, district and state levels. The Teacher of the Year Program is open to any public school classroom teacher, librarian, counselor or other certified individuals in a K-12 setting.

The Limestone County Schools System honored each Teacher of the Year at the annual Teacher of the Year Banquet held on Monday, Dec. 2. The Limestone County Schools District-Level Elementary (K-6) and Secondary (7-12) Teacher of the Year, along with the Educational Support Person of the Year, was announced at the special event. These teachers will then represent Limestone County Schools in the Alabama Teacher of the Year state competition.
