Athens Bible, meanwhile, saw its season end Wednesday following a 7-5 loss to Belgreen.

The Trojans finished with a 17-16 record.

See capsules below.

Class 2A

Lindsay Lane 3, Red Bay 2

The Lions kicked off regional play with a razor-thin victory over the Tigers.

Kaitlyn McMasters’ RBI groundout in the fourth inning tied the game at 1-all before Dusti Jo Conn put Lindsay Lane in front with an RBI single one batter later.

Lily Jackson’s RBI double in the fifth inning provided an important insurance run — Red Bay sliced the deficit in the half soon afterward — for Leigha Carder, who pitched a dandy in the circle.

Carder scattered two hits and six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings of work.

She, along with Jackson, also led the team offensively with two hits. McMasters and Conn each had one.

No. 6 Hatton 8, Lindsay Lane 2

The Lions came up short against the Hornets to fall into the consolation bracket.

Hatton led 6-0 before Lindsay Lane eventually got on the board in the fourth inning following an RBI single by Conn and an RBI fielder’s choice by Sienna Perkins.

In the end, though, the Lions could get no closer.

Hannah Pepper provided two hits to lead the offense, while Kate Davis, Carder, Jackson, Conn and Alice Morrison had one apiece.

Class 1A

Belgreen 7, No. 9 Athens Bible 5

A four-run fifth inning by the Bulldogs doomed the Trojans in Wednesday’s season-ending loss.

Claire Holt’s two-run blast in the first inning put Athens Bible ahead, but Belgreen answered with three runs in the bottom half of the frame to notch a 3-2 advantage.

The Trojans, though, built a 5-3 lead following a two-run double by Kaylee Carter in the second and an inside-the-park home run by Holt in the third.

Unfortunately for Athens Bible, it couldn’t hold on down the stretch.

Holt, Brooke Blakely and Anna Beth Burns collected two hits apiece, while Carter, Destiny Burns, Addyson Butler and Ann Tyler Pressnell rounded out the offensive contributions with one apiece.
