Athens’ Adalyn Pike shot a two-day total of 108 to secure medalist honors in Class 6A at this year’s state golf tournament.
Pike Road’s Beka Yang also recorded a 108.
The freshman standout opened with 1-over 73 at RTJ The Shoals before following it up Tuesday with a 1-under 35. The final round was shortened to nine holes and the annual event to 27 due to forecasted inclement weather.
“I believe Beka and I both earned it,” Pike said. “We both work very hard and I believe she deserves it just as much as I do.”
Lindsay Lane’s Liam Hooton and Athens Bible’ Luke Davis, meanwhile, tied for second (108) in Class 1A-2A, finishing five shots behind Elba’s Jay Wilson (103). Lindsay Lane’s Chloe Ruble (108) joined them as a runner-up — Alabama Christian’s Julie Waldo took home the top prize with a two-day total of 105 — in the girls division.
Tatum Thaxton, Sophya Pirtle and Hayden Anderson assisted Ruble in helping Lindsay Lane’s girls place third in their classification.
