A speaker at the Athens Intermediate School career fair demonstrates an aspect of his job to participating fourth and fifth grade students.

Athens Intermediate School students had the chance on Nov. 17 to learn about many exciting career paths as the school hosted Career Day. AIS fourth and fifth grade students were visited by more than 30 guest speakers representing professions ranging from law enforcement, forensics, cyber security, minor league sports, architecture and many others.

“The goal of Career Day is to expose our students to all kinds of different career pathways. We will have anything from skilled trades to careers that need multiple degrees. We want our students to see all possibilities,” Athens Intermediate School counselor Courtney Bell said.

As the students rotated from room to room to learn about another exciting career, they were enthusiastic and curious. The students asked questions and participated in the many fun activities the speakers had for them.

“I think it is important for students to know they have options to be successful in the future, regardless of which career or educational path they choose,” Bell said.
