PREP ROUNDUP: East Limestone blanks Ardmore 45-0

East Limestone’s Jake Cochran throws a pass.

East Limestone dominated from start to finish on Friday night, picking up a 45-0 road win against Ardmore. 

The Indians (2-7, 2-4 in Class 5A, Region 8) took a 17-0 halftime advantage over the Tigers (1-8, 0-6) on two touchdown runs by Xavier Edwards and a field goal by Jan Stotz. 

Edwards, who finished with 230 yards on 22 carries, added his third touchdown run of the game in the third quarter.

Jake Cochran tossed TD passes to Bryson Grissom and Garrett Ritter, respectively, in the second half and Zach Moody capped the scoring with a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Cochran completed 13 of 17 passes for 160 yards.

East Limestone hosts Mae Jemison next week while Ardmore hosts Central Florence.


Class 4A, Region 7

Rogers 28, West Limestone 7 

The Wildcats closed the season at 5-5 (2-5) after dropping their third straight game on Friday night. 

Easton Smith accounted for West Limestone’s touchdown against the Pirates.


Class 3A, Region 8 

Phil Campbell 44, Clements 36

Jayden Gilbert had three rushing touchdowns and William Perez added two as the Colts (5-5, 2-4) wrapped up the regular season with a tough loss on Friday night.


Class 3A, Region 8 

Colbert County 49, Elkmont 0

Colbert County won its seventh consecutive game in its series against Elkmont on Friday night and scored at least 49 points for the third straight game.

The Red Devils (4-5, 2-4) wrap up the regular season next week at St. John Paul II.


Non-Region Game

Booneville (Miss.) 48, Tanner 21

The Ratters saw their seven-game win streak come to an end on Friday night.

Skylar Townsend, Tailan Hall and Karl Parham each scored touchdowns for Tanner.
