Scam warning from APD

The Athens Police Department has received calls that a scammer is impersonating an investigator with the Athens PD.

The scammer calls and tells victims they have missed jury duty, have warrants for their arrest, and must pay a fine to have the warrant dismissed.

APD is not making such calls. If you receive one, hang up and do not give out any personal information.
