Class 5A, Region 8
Game: Ardmore (1-4, 0-2) at Fairview (5-0, 2-0)
Quick Hitter: The Tigers are averaging 29 points per game in their past three contests.
Coach Speak: “I’m just super proud of our kids and our coaching staff for the job they did offensively in helping us get the win last Friday. Fairview is a really good football team — they are undefeated for a reason — and going to Cullman County is a very difficult task. Hopefully, coming off our first win, the kids will feed off that positive energy and take that with them into Fairview.” — Ardmore’s Jonathan Snider
Class 6A, Region 7
Game: Athens (4-1, 1-1) at Cullman (3-3, 1-1)
Quick Hitter: Four of the past five matchups in this series have been decided by 14 points or less.
Non-Region
Game: Marion County (3-2) at Clements (3-3)
Quick Hitter: The Colts’ 113 points the past two weeks are the most in a two-game stretch under coach Michael Parker.
Coach Speak: “Marion County is a pretty good 1A football team. We lost to them last year — they beat us 22-16 — because of their resilience. But if we can contain their quarterback, then I think we will be just fine.“ — Clements’ Michael Parker
Class 3A, Region 8
Game: Colbert Heights (1-4, 0-2) at Elkmont (3-3, 1-2)
Quick Hitter: The Red Devils’ 164 points — through just six games — are the second-most in a season since 2016.
Coach Speak: “It sucks to lose, but I know there is a lot of good that can come of it if we learn from it and respond to that adversity. It’s always great to play at home and we know there is playoff potential if we win two more region games. So, these next two are crucial.” — Elkmont’s Chris Bunio
Class 7A, Region 4
Game: Sparkman (5-0, 3-0) at James Clemens (4-2, 3-0)
Quick Hitter: The Jets are 9-2 all-time against the Senators, including a 41-17 win last season.
Class 2A, Region 8
Game: Tanner (4-2, 3-0) at Hatton (5-0, 2-0)
Quick Hitter: The Rattlers average 39.8 points per contest while the Hornets surrender just 12.2 points per contest.
Coach Speak: “We’ve got to start finishing on offense. At the beginning of games we are starting off slow and that has been hurting us. Hatton is very athletic. They are smaller this year than they’ve been in previous years, so they are quicker and we’ve got to slow them down to win.” — Tanner’s Oscar Bonds
Class 4A, Region 7
Game: West Limestone (4-2, 1-2) at Wilson (1-4, 0-3)
Quick Hitter: The Wildcats have won four straight in the series, averaging 40.3 points per game during that stretch.
Coach Speak: “We didn’t play very well in all three phases against East (Limestone) and that left a nasty taste in our mouths that we are looking to wash out this week. I know Wilson has struggled a little bit this season, but they do some things offensively with the triple option that no one else does. It’s our last road game of the year and we really want to finish 4-1 on the road. But to do that, we are going to have to play a tough football game.” — West Limestone’s Shelby Davis
