PREP VOLLEYBALL: Athens Bible claims area tournament title; Several local teams advance to North Super Regional

- Athens Bible finished second at the Ardmore 2023 Tiger Bash on Saturday. Ardmore’s junior varsity volleyball team won.
Athens Bible secured its area tournament crown on Thursday, while Lindsay Lane, Clements, East Limestone, Athens and James Clemens will compete in the North Super Regional at Huntsville’s Von Braun Center next week as well after finishing runner-up in their respective area tournaments.

Class 1A, Area 15
Athens Bible swept Valley Head in the semifinals and Woodville (25-8, 25-9, 25-7) in the championship match on Thursday.
The Trojans will play No. 3 Meek next Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the North Super Regional.
Class 2A, Area 14
Lindsay Lane swept ASCTE before falling to Falkville (25-20, 23-25, 24-26, 25-20, 19-17) in the championship match on Thursday.
The No. 9 Lions will play Ider next Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. in the North Super Regional.
Tanner’s season came to a close earlier Thursday with a three-set loss to ASCTE.
Class 3A, Area 16
Clements eliminated Elkmont before falling to No. 3 Lauderdale County (25-17, 25-12, 26-24) in the championship match on Thursday.
The Colts will play No. 1 Plainview next Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the North Super Regional.
Class 4A, Area 12
West Limestone’s season ended on Wednesday following a five-set loss to East Lawrence.
Class 5A, Area 16
East Limestone eliminated Westminster Christian before falling to No. 8 Madison Academy (25-16, 25-14, 25-20) in the championship match on Thursday.
The Indians will play No. 2 Arab next Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the North Super Regional.
Ardmore, meanwhile, saw its 2023 campaign end with a semifinal loss to the Mustangs.
Class 6A, Area 15
Athens bested Columbia in three sets before falling to Muscle Shoals (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) in the championship match on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles will play No. 10 Fort Payne next Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the North Super Regional.
Class 7A, Area 7
James Clemens eliminated Austin in four sets before falling to No. 1 Bob Jones (25-14, 25-14, 25-16) in the championship match on Thursday.
The Jets will play No. 10 Spain Park next Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the North Super Regional.
