Class 5A, Region 8
Game: Ardmore (1-6, 0-4) at Russellville (6-1, 4-0)
Quick Hitter: Three of the Tigers’ losses this season have been decided by single digits.
Coach Speak: “We are legitimately three plays away from being 4-3. We were one play away in the West Limestone game, one play away in Brewer, one play away last week at West Point — but it is what it is. That’s down the moral victory route, but we are not far off from the teams we compete with.” — Ardmore’s Jonathan Snider
Class 6A, Region 7
Game: Columbia (0-8, 0-4) at Athens (5-2, 2-2)
Quick Hitter: The Golden Eagles are 9-0 all-time versus Columbia, which has lost 79 straight games.
Class 3A, Region 8
Game: Colbert County (3-4, 2-2) at Clements (5-3, 2-2)
Quick Hitter: The Colts have outscored opponents 216-76 during their current four-game win streak.
Coach Speak: “I know the kids are riding high with confidence right now, but you have to look at the level of competition you’ve played the past four weeks; it’s not to the level of what we are about to play.” — Clements’ Michael Parker
Class 5A, Region 8
Game: West Point (4-4, 1-3) at East Limestone (0-7, 0-4)
Quick Hitter: The Indians have won three straight against the Warriors.
Class 7A, Region 4
Game: Albertville (0-7, 0-5) at James Clemens (5-3, 4-1)
Quick Hitter: The Jets have outscored the Aggies 160-34 in three all-time meetings (3-0).
Class 2A, Region 8
Game: Red Bay (5-2, 3-1) at Tanner (6-2, 5-0)
Quick Hitter: A win over the Tigers would give the Rattlers’ their first region title since 2016.
Coach Speak: “If we take care of business against a good Red Bay team, then we will be region champs for the first time in a long time. It will be a great thing for the community, the kids and the coaches who’ve all put in a lot of work to get to where we are.” — Tanner’s Oscar Bonds
Class 4A, Region 7
Game: Central Florence (3-4, 2-3) at West Limestone (5-3, 2-3)
Quick Hitter: The past four games between these teams have been decided by a combined 32 points.
Coach Speak: “Central Florence is a tough team. They run the ball about 90 percent of the time. We’ve been up on them before and they fight back every time. Looking back a few years ago, when we were the No. 4 team in the state, they smacked us in the mouth. We’ve got to be ready for the physical and mental aspect of the game, because we are both playing for a spot in the playoffs.” — West Limestone’s Shelby Davis
