A home at the intersection of Sanderfer Road and US Hwy 31 was destroyed by fire Sunday evening, July 17.

Athens Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at 6:27 p.m. on Sunday evening, July 17, near the intersection of Sanderfer Road and U.S. 31. A house trailer and attached house were a total loss, and one person sustained serious burns and was air transported.

Firefighters said the person exited the home prior to their arrival.

The cause is under investigation.
