On April, 28, 2022, at approximately 1 p.m., officers with the Decatur Police Department responded to a possible drowning report involving a child in the 1700 block of Westmead St. SW.

Upon arrival, officers located a 4-year-old child in a pool behind the residence. The child was transported to Parkway Hospital and pronounced deceased shortly after.

An investigation determined the death to be due to drowning.
