Katie Christine Cobb
The funeral for Katie Christine Cobb, 78, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bud White and Bernard Dawes officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight and noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cobb died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.
She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Audrey Hasting and one brother, Billy Hasting.
She is survived by her husband, Luther J. Cobb of Athens; three sons, David Cobb and wife Becky of Madisonville, Ky., Stanley Cobb of Elkmont; Don Cobb and wife Lynette of Athens; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the deacons and elders of Northside Church of Christ.
Jean Douthit Coffman
A graveside service for Jean Douthit Coffman, 83, of Birmingham, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gatlin Cemetery with Billy McGregor officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight at McConnell Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Coffman died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Limestone Health Facility.
She was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Limestone County to Howard Young Douthit and Bessie Ira Eaves Douthit. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George “Slick” Coffman; two sisters, Mildred Shannon and Merle Fry; and one brother, Billy Joe Douthit.
She is survived by three sisters, Jane Ferguson of Toney, Nathalia Church of Huntsville, Marcella Bolton of Moulton; and nieces and nephews, Joe Mark Douthit of Ardmore, Howard Fry of Huntsville, Susan Bolton of Decatur, Betsy Holmes of Chester, Va., Brenna Cottongim of Cumming, Ga., Judy Shannon, Carolyn Shannon, Barbara Bateman, Jackie Shannon, all of Nashville, Tenn., and Peggy O’Kain of California.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Ferguson, Neal Douthit, Cass Hutcheson, Howard Fry, Charlie Durham and Randy Smith.
Jim Henry Moran
The funeral for Jim Henry Moran, 83, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home with Doug Matlock and Guy McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in O’Neal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Moran died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Athens Convalescent Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Limestone County. He was a member of the O’Neal Church of Christ and a retired farmer.
He is survived by one son, Wayne Moran of Athens; three daughters, Wanda Clutts of Athens, Jane Vaughn of Decatur, Renee Bobo of Trinity; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Letha Mae Moran and one son Billy Joe Moran.
Pallbearers will be Will Clutts, Bobby Garlen, Jackie Moran, Blake Vaughn, James Kyle and Jacob Bobo.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and elders of O’Neal Church of Christ.
Mary Newby Terry
Mary Newby Terry, 78, of Athens, passed away Tuesday Oct. 31, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
She was born April 3, 1928, in Limestone County to parents John A. and Mamie R. Newby. She worked 30 years for the United States Army at Redstone Arsenal as a bookkeeper and retired in 1988.
She is survived by her son Larry W. Terry of Athens; granddaughter Tammy Collier of Melbourne, Fla., and Robyn Abernathy of Athens. She has three great-grandchildren Ashley, Bobby and Chelsey Abernathy.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Terry.
A private family service is planned.
