The Limestone County Commission plans to vote Monday on a proposal to improve the county’s Emergency Management Agency building on Market Street.
Morell Engineering would provide engineering, architectural, procurement and construction administration services for the project at a cost of $25,000. Taz Morell of Morell Engineering told commissioners at Wednesday’s work session the scope of work would include improving the front of the building to give it a fresh look and repairing stairs to the building’s second floor.

Elsewhere Wednesday, Commission Chairman Collin Daly announced the commission would vote Monday on providing $5,000 to the Singing River Trail, a 70-mile recreational trail connecting Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties. The Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments asked the commission in March to consider giving to the project.
Sign issues
District 2 Commissioner Steve Turner said he’s received calls about signs in the rights of way and on utility poles, which are both prohibited. He’s told his litter crew to remove any signs placed in those locations.
“Some are attached to county road signs, whether stop signs or intersection ahead signs, and we know that’s unacceptable,” he said.
The commission will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the Clinton Street Courthouse Annex.
