The Limestone County Master Gardeners Association will host a lily sale and flea market 8 a.m.–2 p.m. today at the greenhouse behind Athens Middle School. Dalton Scott Trail Ride
Fourth annual Dalton Scott Memorial Trail Ride and table auction will be 9 a.m. today at the Barry and Natasha Faulk farm at 29453 McCown Road, Toney. Event celebrates life of Scott, a founding member of the local Cowboys for Christ chapter and a longtime supporter of Rails-to-Trails. Donations accepted at the gate. Event proceeds will benefit For Life Ministries (local), Gaits to Heaven Ministries (national) and Haiti Missions (world). Spaghetti day

Chicken stew
The American Legion will hold its monthly chicken stew 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. Price is $7 for all-you-can-eat eat-ins or per quart for carryout. Eat-ins include stew, drinks and desserts. Desserts for carryouts are $1 each with a maximum of two per quart purchased and four total. Containers provided. Free delivery in Athens city limits for businesses or people who are homebound. Fundraiser
The County for a Cure Relay for Life team will host Pizza for Cure from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Village Pizza of East Limestone. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Donnell House special program
Dr. Ken Rivenbark, co-owner of Rivenbark and Roper and creator and host of the cable TV show “Southern Heirlooms with Ken Rivenbark,” will present a program on preserving our household history at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Donnell House, 601 1/2 S. Clinton St., Athens. Rivenbark was recently named to the National Small Business Association Leadership Council Advisory Board. A brief business meeting will highlight last year’s accomplishments. Refreshments to follow.
Genealogy classes
Genealogy classes will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. every other Tuesday and from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. every other Wednesday at Athens-Limestone Public Library in Athens. Focus of the Tuesday, June 18, and Wednesday, June 19, classes will be online genealogy; looking at the most popular genealogy sites — FamilySearch and Ancestry.com.

Food law certification class
Learn about Alabama’s cottage food law from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Athens-Limestone Public Library in Athens. Participants will learn about food safety, learn what foods can be sold and get certified to sell. Fee is $25, payable by money order or cashier’s check.
The Asthma Blues
Learn about asthma and how to treat it through a fun, musical format from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Athens-Limestone Public Library in Athens. The Asthma Blues is an innovative and evidence-based asthma education program that equips patients and families with tools to manage asthma and improve their asthma knowledge. Al Keith is a certified respiratory technician who has been playing music for 51 years. The free program uses music to deliver the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program guidelines for asthma management. CDs of Al’s music will be available for purchase.

The Limestone County Democrats will host a two-night watch party event for the 2020 Presidential Debates, with a pre-debate party starting 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, and Thursday, June 27, at 22143 U.S. 72, Athens. Debates begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are free but registration is required. The event will take the place of the usual June meeting. Kiddie Carnival to open
Athens Lions Club Kiddie Carnival will open 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at 309 E. Forrest St. in Athens, across from the old Athens Middle School campus. The carnival remains open from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through Aug. 3. The Limestone County Farmers Market is now open from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays all summer. Items available include vegetables, fruit, potted plants, clothing and miscellaneous yard sale items. The farmers market is across from The News Courier office on Green Street.
Houston summer hours
Houston Memorial Library summer hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m.-noon the first Saturday of each month. The library is at 101 N. Houston St., Athens.
Master gardener help
Limestone County Master Gardeners will be at the Athens-Limestone Public Library from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Tuesday to answer questions about flowers, vegetables and everything green.
Karaoke night

Nonperishable food drive
Lil Red Wagon Collections at 208 N. Houston St., Athens, is open 9 a.m.–7 p.m. the first week of each month to collect nonperishable food for local homeless people. Donated items will be given to Limestone County Churches Involved, which will distribute them.
