Some of the top artists in contemporary Christian music will perform in the Tennessee Valley this month as part of the annual SoulStock music festival.
The event is set for Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, at Point Mallard in Decatur. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
SoulStock features a night of prayer, worship and music with local praise bands, followed by a day of ongoing music by a distinguished lineup of Christian bands.
Friday night, dubbed Praise ‘n’ Prayer Night, will feature singer-songwriter Noah Cleveland. Making his seventh appearance at SoulStock, Cleveland has shared stages with For King and Country, Sadie Robertson, David Crowder, Building 429, Big Daddy Weave, Sidewalk Prophets and Audio Adrenaline.
Saturday’s headliner is Britt Nicole, a Grammy-nominated vocalist and songwriter whose songs have earned spots on both contemporary Christian charts and mainstream Top 40 charts. Her debut album, “Say It,” reached No. 40 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart.
Her song “The Lost Get Found” landed on the Billboard 200. Her third studio album, 2012’s “Gold,” climbed to 41 on the Billboard 200, and its title track marked her debut on the Hot 100 as well as on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart.
She signed with Capitol Records in 2012, which reissued “Gold” in 2013. The album went on to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Her song “The Sun Is Rising” appeared in the Cameron Diaz film “The Other Woman.”
Also appearing Saturday is B Haley, former drummer for TobyMac’s DiverseCity Band. Haley grew up on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri, 3 miles from Ferguson.
After dedicating his life to God, he moved to Nashville, where he joined the DiverseCity band.
“During that time, God gave B a vision that he hasn’t been able to shake: A vision for the world to live united and come together, and to put down the many differences that divide and pick up the one thing that unites —love,” said a press release about SoulStock. “Armed with a blazing passion to make this world a better place through unity, the We Are 1 Movement was birthed.”
