The property owners in the Swancott Area chose to be annexed into Huntsville city limits years ago, probably because they knew eventually it would increase their property values. Huntsville Utilities wouldn’t provide water to the property owners due to the cost, so along comes Limestone County Water Authority to the rescue. They put in water lines knowing they would have to eventually sell it to Huntsville Utilities for millions less than it cost. With decisions like that, is it any wonder it is over $80 million in debt and has the highest water price in North Alabama?
As a former business owner, I liked looking out the front window and seeing customer cars parked in front of the business. Business owners around The Square can now look out and see the beautiful grass. Unless you drive a compact car you are lucky if you can drive around The Square. What a waste of taxpayer money!
