ST. FLORIAN, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama teenager is accused of driving at an “excessive speed” in a 2018 crash that killed three of her schoolmates.

Al.com reports the 17-year-old was indicted on second-degree assault and three manslaughter counts. She’s accused of “recklessly” causing the deaths of Braden Turner, and 16-year-olds Coby Hines and Tyler Nelson.

Police say a vehicle carrying the driver and four students went over a hill crest and became airborne in St. Florian. The car hit a sign, fence and gate before striking a tree. Court documents don’t list the speed at which they were traveling.

Records show backseat passengers 16-year-old Kaylee Ann McGee, Nelson and Turner weren’t wearing seat belts. McGee and the driver were hurt. Court records don’t list a defense attorney for the driver.
