- This photo, taken from Facebook, shows a white pickup truck carrying a trailer with a blue four-wheeler on it. Thanks to quick detective work on social media, a suspect has been identified in the theft of the blue four-wheeler.
A Limestone community is being praised after it rallied together to identify a suspect in a recent four-wheeler theft.
Limestone County sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Young said a woman came home Friday to find a blue four-wheeler missing. She reported the theft and posted about it on Facebook.
Members of the community then shared the story, adding photos and even footage from their personal security cameras. As of Thursday, a post that included photos of a white pickup truck that may have been used in the theft had been shared almost 500 times.
In the comments section of the post, the woman said the four-wheeler was a 2018 Polaris her child received in May. Young said the posts, combined with other evidence gathered by investigators, led to a search warrant and the return of the four-wheeler.
It also led to an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Luis Lopez, who investigators have named as a suspect in the case. Anyone with information on Lopez’s whereabouts is asked to call 256-232-0111.
