A man charged with first-degree robbery in connection with the 2016 robbery of Abby’s Mini Mart on Nick Davis Road was convicted Tuesday in Limestone County Circuit Court, according to a press release from the Limestone County District Attorney’s Office.
A jury of eight women and four men found Gary Lavon Davis, 55, of 2244 Medaris Road NW, Huntsville, guilty of first-degree robbery, a Class A felony. The case was tried by assistant district attorneys Gray West and Kristen Clemmons.
“We would like to thank the jurors for their dedication in their representation of the citizens of Limestone County and for their hard work in this case,” West said. “We’d also like to thank the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department for their efforts in bringing Mr. Davis to justice for this crime.”
Davis was apprehended in late-September 2016 at B&S Grocery on Elkton Road. At the time, deputies believed he and a female accomplice were about to rob the store.
As a deputy approached his Honda Accord, Davis attempted to pull out of the parking lot and leave the scene. However, the deputy was able to stop the vehicle.
Davis was seen with a T-shirt wrapped around his neck. A pair of gloves and a handgun were found in the floorboard by the driver’s seat.
