A blind plea is a guilty plea without a binding sentence. The sentence is determined by the presiding judge.
Reyer and her former boyfriend, Derrick Lynn Defoe, 33, of 19235 Easter Ferry Road, Athens, are accused of scalding her 2-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son in the bathtub of their former home in the 21000 block of Tillman Mill Road on June 13, 2015. They were each charged with one felony count per child of child abuse, domestic violence and attempted murder for a total of six counts each.
Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones said his office secured guilty pleas on the two counts his office was going after. He added Reyer could receive anywhere from 10 to 99 years in prison or a life sentence.
After the plea agreement, Reyer was returned to the Limestone County Jail. A sentencing date was not available as of Monday morning.
Jones had no further comment on the case, citing ongoing preparations for Reyer’s sentencing.

On the evening of June 14, Reyer took the girl to Athens-Limestone Hospital, claiming she fell into a hot tub. The hospital visit prompted an investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, which determined the boy had also suffered burns.
The girl had second- and third-degree burns over 80 percent of her body, officials said at the time. Jones has said the toddler was placed in water up to her neck. She spent months in critical condition in the burn unit at Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in Cincinnati before being released.
The boy had second- and third-degree burns over 30 percent of his body. Jones has said the boy was standing in the tub.
Reyer and Defoe both initially pleaded not guilty after being indicted by a Limestone County grand jury.
Defoe remains in the Limestone County Jail with a bond of $170,000. According to court records, he will next appear in court on Sept. 6.
