Elkmont defeats Lindsay Lane in season finale

Elkmont ended its baseball season on a high note, as the Red Devils ran away with a 14-4 victory over Lindsay Lane Christian Thursday afternoon.
Elkmont scored 11 runs in the first three innings, including a five-spot in the third, to take a commanding lead and they never looked back, as they finished the season on a two-game winning streak, having defeated Brindlee Mountain Tuesday.
Preston Robinson led Elkmont with three hits and two RBIs, while Cameryn Peden also had two hits and drove in a run. Clay Hunt also had a hit and two runs batted in for the Red Devils.
Lindsay Lane was led by Owen Roberts with two hits and an RBI, while Brady Anderson and Cameron Stutts also each had two hits for the Lions.
Prep Softball
Athens 14, West Limestone 2
Athens scored in every inning in defeating West Limestone in a five-inning game Thursday evening.
The Golden Eagles jumped on top with four runs in each of the first two innings before scoring a run in the third and five more in the fourth.
Gracie Green hit a three-run home run and had four RBIs in the game. Emma Ogden also had two hits and drove in three runs for Athens, while Mary Greg Anderson, Olivia Patton and Anna Carder each had two hits as well. One of Carder’s hits was a double, and Kadence Miller also hit a double for the Golden Eagles.
Maddie Wilson was the winning pitcher, tossing 4 1/3 innings one run on three hits and striking out four.
Baily Browning and Kynleigh Lopez each had two hits to lead West Limestone.
Girls Soccer
West Limestone 10, Danville 1
Vanessa Ascencio and Katherine Medrano each had hat tricks to lead West Limestone to a Class 4A-5A, Area 16 victory over Danville Thursday evening.
Ascencio and Medrano each had two goals in the first half to give the Wildcats a 4-0 halftime lead. Kelsey Hopkins scored two goals in the second half, while Gracie Tribble and Stephanie Marcial added goals as well. Ascencio and Medrano also scored goals in the second half to complete their hat tricks, as the Wildcats improved to 9-5-1 overall and 4-3 in area play.
Boys Soccer
West Limestone 3, Danville 1
West Limestone overcame an early deficit to take a Class 4A-5A, Area 16 victory over Danville Thursday night.
Danville scored a goal in the opening minutes, but the Wildcats got first-half goals from Miguel Quiroz and Jose Roman to take a 2-1 halftime lead.
West Limestone then got an insurance goal from Rudy Teletor Reyes late in the second half to seal the victory.
