Homecoming and anniversary. Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church will celebrate its 149th church anniversary and homecoming at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 6, with Sunday School at 8:30 a.m. The Rev. Dr. John Clay, president of Huntsville Bible College, will be guest preacher. ICPBC Inspirational Choir and Ushers will serve. The theme is “Celebrating God’s Faithfulness; We have come this far by Faith.” Event is open to the public.

Youth day. Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual youth day 11 a.m. Sunday, May 6, at the church at 803 Westmoreland St., Athens. Guest speaker will be minister Tory Green of Bethany Primitive Baptist Church, New Market. Event is open to the public.

Women’s Day. St. Mark Primitive Baptist Church will hold its annual Women’s Day celebration 11 a.m. Sunday, May 6, at the church at 740 W. Sanderfer Road, Athens. Guest speaker will be Sister Wilhemina Burwell of Mount Zion P.B. Church in Huntsville. Music by the Women of St. Mark. Attire color is pastels. Event is open to the public.

Ministry orientation. Alabama Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America will host an orientation session 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, for those interested in joining Open Doors Jail and Prison Ministry, a faith-based outreach ministering to families impacted by the justice system. Swamp John’s fundraiser. Tanner United Methodist Church will hold a Swamp John’s fundraiser 4–7 p.m. Monday, May 7, at the church at 19607 Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road, Tanner. Cost: $11 per plate includes fish, shrimp, chicken, fries, hushpuppies, slaw and drink. Dine in or carryout. Tickets available at the door. Tanner UMC Women will also host a bake sale.

Summer program. New Life Assembly in Athens is now enrolling children for its summer program, which will include field trips, games and water days for children in grades K-5. Program runs 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Mondays–Fridays, May 29–Aug. 4. Cost: $35 nonrefundable registration fee; $125 per week plus one time $75 activities fee for full time; $35 per day for part time or $45 on field-trip days. Summer program. David’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Tanner will host Operation Timothy II summer program for children ages 5-13 from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 4–July 27 for $260 per child. More information: Dorothy Shoulders, 256-232-8035.

Bible study. Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church invites all to its second summer outreach Bible study ministry at 7 p.m. every Wednesday night through Aug. 29 at Pincham-Lincoln Center in Athens. After-school program. The after-school program from 3–5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5–18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens City Schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. Cost for the program is $10 per week per student.
