After-school program. The after-school program from 3-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at David’s Temple Church in Tanner accepts children ages 5-18. Homework assistants, tutoring and study hall are available. Van pickup is available to all Athens City Schools except Athens High. Children from Tanner High can ride the bus. Men’s Day. Pleasant Grove CPCA Church will host its annual Men’s Day celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at 1539 Hastings Road, Athens. Guest speaker will be Corey Thomas of New Berea M.B. Church. Dinner will be served after service.

Choir concert. The Curtis Coleman Center for Religious Studies and Ethics at Athens State University will host a concert at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at McCandless Hall to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy. Calhoun Community College Choir will perform old Negro spirituals in remembrance of King’s teachings. The concert is free and open to the public.
