Athens Bible School easily dispatched of Coosa Christian on Thursday afternoon in the North Regional volleyball tournament and now are just one victory away from advancing to the state tournament.
The Trojans defeated Coosa 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-12) in the Class 1A North Regional at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville and advance to tonight’s quarterfinals to play either Faith Christian or Tharptown.
The top four teams in the North and South regionals advance to the state tournament, so if Athens Bible wins its quarterfinal match to advance to the semifinals, it will clinch a spot in next week’s state tourney in Montgomery.
The other local volleyball team to play today didn’t fare as well, as Tanner was defeated by Cold Springs in the Class 2A North Regional.
The Rattlers fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-22) to Cold Springs to see their season end with a 9-9 record.
