Limestone County Schools will not be in session Tuesday as the remnants of Hurricane Irma pass through the Tennessee Valley.

Superintendent Dr. Tom Sisk said some forecast models have indicated severe weather will hit the county near the time school is scheduled to begin. He said the decision to cancel school and school-sponsored events and practices was made out of an abundance of caution.

“We are making this announcement now to allow families time to make proper arrangements for their children,” Sisk said in a statement.
