City to consider fiscal 2018 budget Monday

Athens City Council may vote Monday on the fiscal 2018 budget as well as a proposal for surface exploration and geotechnical evaluation services for the proposed new recreation center.
Council members reviewed the budget in some detail during a half-day public work session Sept. 13.
Monday’s regular meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 200 W. Hobbs St. A pre-meeting work session will be held at 4:30 p.m., at which time the council generally discusses each of the upcoming agenda items. Both meetings are open to the public.
During the work session, council members will hear a presentation from Public Works Director James Rich and someone speaking on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club.
The following items were listed on the meeting agenda as of Thursday:
Public hearings
• Hearing to receive comments concerning the proposed zoning approval for the sale of alcohol in the city of Athens by Athens Arts League on Oct. 20.
Regular calendar
• Resolution allowing the dedication and acceptance of certain streets, sidewalks and storm/sanitary sewer mains in projects operated by the Athens Housing Authority;
• Ordinance amending business license code concerning certain delivery licenses;
• Resolution to fill vacancy on the Athens Zoning Board of Adjustment;
• Resolution concerning the continued delivery of the city’s solid waste to the solid waste transfer station;
• Resolution to approve the fiscal 2018 general fund operating budget;
• Resolution to approve the fiscal 2018 special revenue operating budgets;
• Resolution to approve the fiscal 2018 landfill operating budget;
• Resolution to approve the fiscal 2018 special school fund operating budget;
