Parent expects apology
Dear Editor:
My son is a student at Owens Elementary School and was one of the students who received a word art picture from Bernice Young.
Conner’s described him as cruel, which in no way describes my son. This was very upsetting to our family and to Conner. I expect the board, the teacher and the principal to offer him an apology, and until today, I thought that was exactly what he had received. However in the paper today (May 26 edition), I saw principal Cleo Miller chalked this all up to parents “blowing it out of proportion.”
Really? This is the response of our school’s principal?
I expect her to say one thing, “I’m sorry and this is wrong.” I do not expect her to tell our local reporters that parents have done something wrong when a staff member of our school system openly bullied students, and to top it all off, sent the message framed for us to display “proudly” in our homes.
This is ridiculous. I expect a full, unconditional apology from the principal in the local paper.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Harbin
