Two Limestone County Schools employees were injured this morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road, an official said.

Karen Tucker, the system’s director of technology and public relations, said Rodney Dempsey and Billy Ray Smith were traveling south on U.S. 31 in a maintenance truck, en route to Tanner High School at about 8:15 a.m. The men were turning left onto Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road when they were struck by a vehicle traveling west on Huntsville-Browns Ferry, Tucker said. She added the truck was struck “near the front” of the vehicle.

Dempsey and Smith and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital with not life-threatening injuries.

Tucker said Dempsey has worked for the school’s maintenance department for five years, while Smith has been employed for two years.
