• Homecoming. Westside Church of Christ at 25704 Smithfield Road, Elkmont, will host homecoming Sunday, May 21. Morning worship begins at 10 a.m., followed by Bible study at 11:15, lunch at 12:30 p.m. and afternoon worship at 2:30. Tim Smith, pulpit minister at Inner City Church of Christ in Huntsville, will be guest speaker. More information: 256-431-6425.

• Religious buildings tour. The Curtis Coleman Center for Religious Studies and Ethics will host a downtown walking tour of historical religious edifices at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23. The tour will be led by Athens-Limestone’s Tourism Association and begin and end at Athens State University’s Founders Hall Chapel. Tour guides will explore the little known but highly significant roles that each church has played in the history of Athens and Alabama, including how they began, how they were built and how they contributed to the Athens-Limestone community. Participants will visit the old First Methodist, First Presbyterian and Marion Street Church of Christ, which are within walking distance. Participants are also asked to bring a lunch. Refreshments will be served at the close of the tour at the chapel in Founders Hall. This will be the first leg of a two-part tour.

• Women’s Day. Little Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Women’s Day beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 28. Minister Cynthia McCrary will be the speaker. Music will be provided by the women of Little Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church. The theme is “Christian Women Working Together in Unity.” Everyone invited. More information: 256-232-6247.

• Summer program. David’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church at 11273 Stewart Road, Tanner, will host the Operation Timothy II Summer Program from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., June 5-July 28. The cost is $260. The program is for children ages 5-13. A parent meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28. More information: 256-232-8035.

•Vacation Bible School. Fairview Baptist Church, 27550 Nick Davis Road in Athens, will host a “Galactic Starveyor” themed VBS from 9 a.m.-noon June 5-9 at the church. There will be a family night at the church with dinner beginning at 5 p.m. June 9.
