- As a senior at James Clemens, LayBryan Ray had a team-high 13 sacks, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, 25 tackles-for-loss and two forced fumbles and was a first-team All-State selection for the second consecutive season.
LaBryan Ray is ready to prove why recruiting services have pegged him as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Alabama this year.
The James Clemens senior is in Orlando this week competing against the nation’s best senior football players in preparation for Saturday’s Under Armour All-America game. The game will kick off at noon Saturday from Camping World Stadium in Orlando and be broadcast live on ESPN.

While many of the highly-coveted recruits will announce their college decisions on television Saturday, Ray is apparently still undecided. As the nation’s No. 2 ranked strong side defensive end, Ray holds offers from every major program in the country.
“He’s not leaning anywhere,” James Clemens head coach Wade Waldrop said at a signing for teammates Kyriq McDonald and Monty Rice earlier this month. “There are people writing that he’s a heavy lean here or there. I can tell you right now that he has zero clue where he’s going. He does not know.”
Some recruiting services have projected Ray to follow in the footsteps of teammate Kyriq McDonald, who recently signed with Alabama. While that is yet to be seen, the four-star defensive end has narrowed his college choices down to five — Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
“I want to take all of my visits,” Ray said at the ceremony. “It’s such a hard decision for me. It might be Signing Day.”
Ray will visit Tennessee on Jan. 13, Alabama Jan. 20 and Florida on Jan. 27. He could also visit Mississippi State, but it has not been finalized just yet. National Signing Day, normally the final day when college recruits announce their decisions, is Feb. 1.
