Gadsden Police Capt. Paul Cody tells The Gadsden Times that firefighters were called to recover the body because of the turbulent water. Gadsden Fire Chief Stephen Carroll said firefighters were able to go down the bank of the creek and pull the body out in a Stokes basket.

Sgt. John Hallman said police have made a tentative identification and would be attempting to notify the person’s family.

Cody said the body would be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to determine the cause of death.
