Anna Marie Shurden, 86, of Athens passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at home.

She was born July 27, 1929, in Durham, North Carolina, to Winston and Norvella Upchurch. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed reading Guide Posts and the Upper Room. She enjoyed gospel music, especially the Gaithers. She loved her dogs and cats, old country music and reality television.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Joe Green.

Survivors include three sons, George Green of Richmond, Virginia, Greg Jeffreys and wife Michelle of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and Bobby Jeffreys of Huntsville; three daughters, Linda Gregg and husband Thomas of Houston, Texas, Susan Sandlin and husband Jody of Houston, and Lisa McMahan and husband Wayne of Athens; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Green, Greg Jeffreys, Wayne McMahan, Jody Sandlin, Jeremy Dawkins and Andy Dawkins.

The honorary pallbearer is Thomas Gregg

Services will be at noon Saturday, March 26 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, Mississippi.

McConnell Funeral Home assisted the family.
