Walter McGlocklin

Walter Dean McGlocklin, 72, of Athens died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. Mr. McGlocklin was born May 23, 1943, in Limestone County, to Harley McGlocklin and Mable Puryear McGlocklin.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Tanner Church of Christ with Robert Hall and Don Osborne officiating. Viewing time is 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in Tanner Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. McGlocklin was a member of Tanner Church of Christ. He retired from Athens Utilities and was a Limestone County commissioner for District 3 for eight years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Pitts McGlocklin; one daughter, Sandra Ruth McGlocklin; one son, Walter James McGlocklin; father, Harley McGlocklin; mother, Mable McGlocklin; three brothers, Roscoe McGlocklin, Buddy McGlocklin and Gordon McGlocklin; two sisters, Barbara Kemp and Reba McGlocklin.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn G. McGlocklin of Tanner; four daughters, Nancy Johnson and Beverly McGlocklin, both of Athens, Grace Sides and husband Bryan of Brookwood, and Cindy Wise and husband Billy of Elkmont; five grandchildren, Hannah Johnson, Will Johnson, Michael Sides, Grayson Sides and Alexander Sides; three brothers, Eddie Wayne McGlocklin of Athens, Bobby Joe McGlocklin and wife Linda of Decatur and Billy McGlocklin and wife Argie of Fountain, Florida; one sister, Betty McLemore and husband Bobby of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Will Johnson, Grayson Sides, Michael Sides, Alexander Sides, Bryan Sides and Billy McGlocklin. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Joe McGlocklin and Bobby McLemore.
