Clifford Schrimsher

Clifford D. Schrimsher, 97, of Athens passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Limestone Nursing facility. He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Limestone County to William Alonza and Mintie Cobb Schrimsher.

Mr. Schrimsher is survived by two sons, Max D. “Mack” Schrimsher and wife Dana of Falkville, and Malcolm Schrimsher and wife Lou Ann of Athens; two daughters, Brenda Greer and husband Jerry, and Connie Crouch, all of Athens. He is also survived by five grandsons; two granddaughters; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Wales Schrimsher; grandson, Eric Greer; son-in-law, Buddy Crouch; brother, Claude “Buddy” Schrimsher; sisters, Ethel Patterson, Nettie Wood, Mary Landers, Lois Landers and Terah Schrimsher; and his parents.

Mr. Schrimsher was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for 84 years. He was employed as a carpenter by Marvin Black, housing contractor, for about 40 years. He also farmed in his earlier years.

Services for Mr. Schrimsher will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Fairview Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with Keith Crouch and George Whitten officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. McConnell Funeral Home will direct the service.

Pallbearers will be Cory Crouch, Todd Crouch, Jerry Greer, John Paul Greer, Paul Greer and Cary Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men’s Sunday school class at Fairview Baptist Church.
