The funeral for Ruth Eileen Rogers Birdsong, 83, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Robert Fudge and Carl Witty officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Birdsong died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at home.
She was born June 4, 1924, in Limestone County to Charles R. Rogers and Lillie Ulrich Rogers. She was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. She was a homemaker, seamstress, avid gardener and she loved traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Monroe Birdsong; one sister, Edna Green; and one brother, Robert Earl Griffin.
She is survived by one daughter, Abra B. Butler and husband Mark of Athens; three granddaughters, Audra Butler, Catherine Butler and Lili Butler; two sisters, Lillian Loggins and Polly McBay, both of Athens; two sisters-in-law, Irma Young of Nashville and Nellie Birdsong of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Alan Loggins, Perry Noojin, Ralph Green, Ronald Green, Lavon McBay, Harold Dilworth, Donnie Robinson and Dwight Giffin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Athens Limestone Humane Society.
