DECATUR POST — A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, has claimed the life of a 45-year-old Athens man, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Tony H. Coffman Jr., was killed when the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving left the roadway, collided with a utility pole and then struck a tree. Coffman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Friend Road near Garden Lane, in Athens — approximately 10 miles west of Tanner, in Limestone County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
