Amy Karl Hays and Joseph Henry Higginbotham

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hays of Athens announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Karl Hays to Joseph Henry Higginbotham, son of Mr. & Mrs. Keith Higginbotham of Athens. 

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Harold Hays and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Edward Burgreen.

She is a 2007 graduate of Athens High School and a 2011 graduate of Auburn University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish international trade. She is the owner of Trinity’s Gift Shop on The Square in Athens. 

The prospective groom is the grandson of Jeanette Higginbotham of Athens, Muriel Pekrul of Indian River, Mich., and the late Henry Hoy Higginbotham and. Wilfred P. Pekrul. 

He is a 2007 graduate of Athens High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama where he received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is employed by Morell Engineering as a civil engineer. 

The wedding is planned for May 31, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Athens.
