No. 2 Flame sweep No. 3 Trojans

Number 2-ranked Shoals Christian swept No. 3 Athens Bible with a pair of five-run victories Tuesday and Wednesday. The Flame completed the two-day sweep with an 8-3 win Wednesday.
In the second game, Shoals took an early 2-0 lead before ABS answered with a pair of runs to tie the score in the bottom of the second.
Wright Overton drove home Tyler Hudson from second base with an RBI-single, followed by Carter Corneil’s RBI-double to tie the game.
Pitcher Cole Graviett got ABS out of a jam in the third with the bases loaded and one out.
Shoals Christian added two runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to pull away.
Following a Monday rainout, Shoals Christian opened the series Tuesday in Florence with a 7-2 victory. Athens Bible starting pitcher Zach Ivey had a 1-0 lead when he was injured and forced to leave the game.
Carter Corneil and Ethan Thomas had a pair of hits in the loss. Corneil was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
