BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) — A Hoover man has been found guilty in a 2012 DUI crash that killed a man and injured his passenger.
32-year-old Kyle Gavin McCay was convicted of manslaughter Wednesday in the death of 68-year-old John Ballinger. McCay was also convicted of assault for injuries his passenger suffered.
Police say McCay hit a car Ballinger was driving as he was leaving the parking lot of a grocery store.
McCay, a University of Alabama football fan, told the court that he drank more than he should have while he was watching the 2012 Iron Bowl and that driving after the game was a mistake.
