Discovery of missing woman’s body leads to arrest of Elkmont man

An Elkmont man is facing charges in connection with the disappearance of a missing Ardmore woman whose body was found by local investigators last week.
The 20-year-old suspect has been charged with abuse of a corpse, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the missing female, whose name had not been released by law enforcement by deadline of this article.
Additional charges against may be forthcoming, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The suspect was booked into the Limestone County Jail and, according to the sheriff’s office, a bond had not yet been set.
“On Thursday, April 17, 2025, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person report from a family in the Ardmore, Alabama, community,” the sheriff’s office said in its statement. “The report involved an 18-year-old female who had not been seen or heard from, prompting immediate concern.
“Investigators Martin Evans and Cooper Posey initiated an urgent search and began following leads to locations the individual was known to frequent.”
According to the the sheriff’s office, the search included a residence in the 24000 block of Esten Lane in Elkmont, authorities identified as the home of the individual’s ex-boyfriend.
Investigators located the missing woman’s body and subsequently obtained a search warrant. “[D]uring the execution of the warrant, evidence was discovered that led to the arrest … ,” she sheriff’s office said.
The investigation into the matter “is active and ongoing,” the sheriff’s office noted, adding that no additional information about the case will be released at this time, “[f]or the integrity of this investigation.”
“Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin and the entire Limestone County Sheriff’s Office extend our deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said. “We ask the community to join us in prayer and support for the loved ones impacted by this tragic loss.”
