Two Limestone County residents face charges of trafficking in cannabis, after an April search warrant at a local residence yielded a sizable quantity of marijuana and packaged THC products, in addition to cash and firearms.
Following a month-long investigation, narcotics investigators with the Athens Police Department and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office executed the warrant at the male suspect’s residence on Wales Road in Limestone County.
“During the search, officers discovered approximately 45 pounds of marijuana (valued at $72,000), 656 consumable products containing THC, eight long guns, six pistols and $2,542 in U.S. currency,” Athens police said in a statement following the arrests.
Investigators noted that the male suspect, a truck driver, is believed by police to have used his commercial vehicle “to transport large quantities of marijuana from out of state.”
The 58-year-old male suspect, as well as a 53-year-old female also arrested at the residence, were arrested and charged with trafficking in cannabis. Each was released on April 20 after posting a bond of $100,000.
