The U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s Space Camp Institute® is hosting the Alabama Aerospace Fellowship internship program this summer for students ages 15 to 18. This program seeks to support and encourage students interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
The internship program is free to attend.
“In order to recruit and retain long-lasting, high paying, 21st Century jobs in Alabama’s aerospace industry, we must have workers with the skills, knowledge and qualifications to fill those jobs,” Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth said. “The Alabama Aerospace Fellowship will provide today’s students with the first-person, hands-on experience that allows them to become the engineers, designers and industry leaders of tomorrow.”
The Fellowship program is presented in two parts: a Virtual Symposium with seminars and briefings from the state’s aerospace leaders; and an in-person Residency at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. The Residency portion includes visits to academic institutions and aerospace facilities along with hand-on lessons focused on professional development skills. Fellows will learn about teamwork and leadership, personal communication skills and how to build a professional network.
The virtual component of the fellowship program takes place June 2 through 6, with the residency portion scheduled for July 25 through 30.
Applicants must be Alabama residents and U.S. citizens who will be 15 to 18 years old in July 2025. Apply at rocketcenter.com.
