On the afternoon of Thursday, March 6, deputies with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two armed suspects who had barricaded themselves inside of a residence on North Wales Road in Elkmont, according to a release from the LCSO.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, deputies attempted to serve four warrants on a 45-year-old Elkmont man and a 30-year-old Elkmont woman. Instead of peacefully complying to the deputies, the pair successfully barricaded themselves inside of the home while armed with a shotgun.
Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin responded to the scene, activating the LCSO SWAT Team and negotiators. Following a short, yet tense, standoff, both suspects surrendered and were taken into custody without further incident.
“I want to thank our sheriff’s office team, who exemplified great teamwork in handling this potentially dangerous situation,” McLaughlin stated in the release. “I also appreciate the patience and support of our community as we processed the scene.”
Both Elkmont residents have been booked into the Limestone County Jail, each facing two counts of Chemical Endangerment of a Child.
