On Thursday, Feb. 27, the Athens Police Department began an investigation regarding child pornography after receiving information from the Regional Evidence Analysis and Cyber-Intelligence Team.

A 30-year-old Athens man was identified as the primary target in the investigation. On Friday, March 7,  a search warrant was conducted at the man’s residence, located in the 1200 Block of Audubon Lane, Athens.

During the search, several images of individuals younger than the age of 18 engaged in an act of sexually explicit conduct were located. Following the search, the 30-year-old man was arrested for 10 counts of Possession with Intent to Disseminate Child Pornography.  This investigation is ongoing with more charges expected.
